PostHeaderIcon Three Accessories for Mardi Gras

So, you’re planning a trip down to New Orleans for Mardi Gras and you want to know what kinds of Mardi Gras accessories to bring. Well, I’ve been there many times and I’ve got answers for you… but the answers might surprise you!

First things first, shoes! What? No, I’ll get to the sexy stuff soon, I promise. But have you ever been to the French Quarter? Buses and parking are terrible, everyone walks everywhere, but the pavement is uneven and the streets are filthy. Wear comfortable shoes, not open sandals, so you can get around with clean feet.

Second of all, of course you need to get beads or as they are called locally, “throws.” This includes much larger shiny objects to toss to people, such as little cups and shoes and other toy accessories. I recommend you buy these online or at a party store before you go to New Orleans, because the shops in the Quarter know you want them bad and they will charge you top dollar.

Last, I’ll let you in on a little secret that no one ever thinks of: wash-off tattoos. I know they sound like a little kid thing, but these aren’t just for your face or arm. Walk up to any woman at Mardi Gras who doesn’t have body paint on and ask her if she wants a tattoo. Most will say yes, Then you reach out and gently apply the tattoo to her breasts – she will let you every time! Ladies, I hear this works with putting them on a guy’s washboard abs too!
